Early SSI Alert: Who Gets the January 31st Payment?
If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), mark your calendar for January 31, 2025.
Since February 1st falls on a Saturday, the Social Security Administration will send February’s SSI payment early.
Here's the important information you shouldn't miss:
- Who gets it? All SSI recipients will receive this advance payment.
- How to get it faster? Payments will arrive immediately on January 31st only if you use Direct Deposit. If you receive a paper check, it may take a few extra days.
- How much is it? Thanks to a 2.5% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), the maximum monthly benefit is now $967, though individual payments vary.
This isn’t an extra payment—it's simply February’s benefit issued early.
Additionally, March’s payment will also arrive early (on February 29th) since March 1st is a holiday.
For faster and safer payments, consider enrolling in Direct Deposit. Visit ssa.gov/ssi for more details.
