August 2026 SSA Payment Schedule: When Social Security and SSI Checks Arrive
Social Security beneficiaries are getting ready for their August 2026 payment dates, and most recipients will follow the regular SSA schedule.
The main change this month affects SSI recipients, who will receive their August payment early because August 1 falls on a Saturday.
SSI payment comes early in July
For Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients, the August benefit will arrive on Friday, July 31, 2026. That means SSI beneficiaries will see two payments in July:
-
July 1 for the July SSI benefit.
-
July 31 for the August SSI benefit.
This is not an extra check. It is simply the August SSI deposit paid early because of the calendar. SSI recipients will not receive another payment in August.

Social Security payment dates for August 2026
If you receive Social Security retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits, your August payment will follow the normal SSA birthday schedule. The only exceptions are people who began receiving benefits before May 1997 and those who receive both SSI and Social Security.
The August 2026 Social Security payment schedule is:
-
Monday, August 3: Beneficiaries who started receiving Social Security before May 1997, plus most people who receive both SSI and Social Security.
-
Wednesday, August 12: People born between the 1st and 10th.
-
Wednesday, August 19: People born between the 11th and 20th.
-
Wednesday, August 26: People born between the 21st and 31st.
Why the schedule looks different
The SSA uses a staggered payment system to process benefits for nearly 70 million people each month. Most recipients are paid based on their birth date, while some groups are paid on a separate schedule.
SSI works differently. When the first day of the month falls on a weekend or federal holiday, SSA sends the payment on the last business day before the month begins. That is why the August SSI payment arrives on July 31.
What beneficiaries should watch for
If you use direct deposit, check your bank account or my Social Security account around your scheduled payment date. Most electronic payments arrive on time, though banks can sometimes post funds at different times during the day.
SSA also recommends keeping your banking and mailing information up to date to avoid delays. If a payment does not arrive, wait three mailing days before reporting it missing.
Bottom line
The August 2026 Social Security payment calendar is mostly normal, but SSI recipients will get one early deposit at the end of July.
Social Security retirement, SSDI, and survivor payments will continue through August on the regular SSA schedule.
