Remaining 2026 Social Security Payment Dates: What Beneficiaries Should Expect From July Through December

The second half of 2026 includes several important Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment dates that recipients may want to mark on their calendars.

From July through December, most monthly payments follow the Social Security Administration's regular schedule.

However, a few calendar changes mean some SSI recipients will receive their benefits earlier than usual, resulting in two SSI deposits in the same month.

Whether you receive retirement, SSDI, survivor, or SSI benefits, knowing the remaining payment dates can make it easier to plan for rent, groceries, utilities, and other monthly expenses.

How Social Security Payments Are Scheduled

Most Social Security retirement, SSDI, and survivor benefits are paid based on the beneficiary's birth date:

  • Birthdays on the 1st–10th: Second Wednesday
  • Birthdays on the 11th–20th: Third Wednesday
  • Birthdays on the 21st–31st: Fourth Wednesday

People who began receiving Social Security before May 1997, or who receive both Social Security and SSI, generally receive their Social Security payment near the beginning of the month instead.

SSI follows a separate schedule and is typically paid on the first day of each month. When the first falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the payment is sent on the previous business day.

Remaining Social Security and SSI Payment Dates for 2026

July

  • July 1: SSI payment
  • July 2: Social Security payment for beneficiaries paid early in the month
  • July 8: Birthdays from the 1st–10th
  • July 15: Birthdays from the 11th–20th
  • July 22: Birthdays from the 21st–31st
  • July 31: Early SSI payment for August

Because August 1 falls on a Saturday, SSI recipients will receive their August payment on July 31.

August

  • August 12: Birthdays from the 1st–10th
  • August 19: Birthdays from the 11th–20th
  • August 26: Birthdays from the 21st–31st

There is no SSI payment during August because it was issued early on July 31.

September

  • September 1: SSI payment
  • September 3: Early-month Social Security payment
  • September 9: Birthdays from the 1st–10th
  • September 16: Birthdays from the 11th–20th
  • September 23: Birthdays from the 21st–31st

October

  • October 1: SSI payment
  • October 2: Early-month Social Security payment
  • October 14: Birthdays from the 1st–10th
  • October 21: Birthdays from the 11th–20th
  • October 28: Birthdays from the 21st–31st
  • October 30: Early SSI payment for November

Since November 1 falls on a Sunday, November's SSI benefit will arrive on October 30.

November

  • November 3: Early-month Social Security payment
  • November 10: Birthdays from the 1st–10th
  • November 18: Birthdays from the 11th–20th
  • November 25: Birthdays from the 21st–31st

There is no SSI payment during November because beneficiaries received it early on October 30.

December

  • December 1: SSI payment
  • December 3: Early-month Social Security payment
  • December 9: Birthdays from the 1st–10th
  • December 16: Birthdays from the 11th–20th
  • December 23: Birthdays from the 21st–31st
  • December 31: Early SSI payment for January 2027

Since January 1, 2027, is a federal holiday, January's SSI benefit will be deposited on December 31, 2026.

Why Some Months Have Two SSI Payments

Recipients may notice two SSI deposits during July, October, and December.

These are not bonus or extra benefits. Instead, they are advance payments for the following month whenever the first day of that month falls on a weekend or federal holiday.

As a result:

  • July 31 is the August SSI payment.
  • October 30 is the November SSI payment.
  • December 31 is the January 2027 SSI payment.

Planning Ahead for the Rest of the Year

Understanding the remaining 2026 payment schedule can help beneficiaries organize monthly budgets and avoid confusion when deposits arrive earlier than expected.

If your payment does not arrive on the expected date, the Social Security Administration generally recommends waiting at least three mailing days before contacting the agency or your financial institution.
