SSA Confirms 2026 Payment Calendar: When Will You Get Your Social Security Check?

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has officially released the 2026 payment schedule for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.

This update is crucial for seniors, retirees, and SSI recipients who depend on these monthly deposits to manage their expenses.

Despite the ongoing government shutdown, the SSA confirmed that benefit payments will continue as scheduled, although in-person office services may face delays.

Who Receives Social Security Benefits

Social Security supports several groups of Americans, including:

  • Retirees: Individuals who worked and paid Social Security taxes during their careers.

  • People with disabilities: Those who qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI).

  • Spouses and ex-spouses: Eligible partners who can claim benefits based on a worker’s record.

  • Survivors: Widows, widowers, and children of deceased workers.

How Payment Dates Are Determined

Most Social Security payments are scheduled according to the beneficiary’s birth date:

  • Born 1st–10th → Paid on the second Wednesday of each month.

  • Born 11th–20th → Paid on the third Wednesday.

  • Born 21st–31st → Paid on the fourth Wednesday.

SSI payments follow a separate schedule and are usually sent on the first day of each month.

If that date falls on a weekend or holiday, payments are made on the prior business day.
